Chris Griffin Elected to Lead Corbin Little League, Aims to Honor Jeff Chadwell’s Legacy

CORBIN — In the wake of Jeff Chadwell’s recent passing, the Corbin Little League Board convened on Tuesday night to elect a new president.

After thoughtful deliberation, the board chose Chris Griffin, a dedicated member of the league for over a decade, to take on the leadership role.

Reflecting on this significant moment, Griffin expressed mixed emotions.

“It has been more than 25 years since Corbin Little League last needed a new president, and to be honest, it is a bittersweet moment for me,” he said. “On one hand, I lost one of my best friends, Jeff Chadwell, but on the other, I am honored to not only carry on but to build upon the strong foundation Jeff has created for youth baseball in Corbin.”

Griffin has spent the last 12 years as both a coach and board member, working closely with Chadwell and other board members.

“I’m confident this experience has prepared me to step into this new role and carry on the strong history of Corbin Little League baseball,” he said.

Earning the position of Little League President is a significant honor for Griffin.

“I no longer have a child involved in little league and that was one of many things I admired about Jeff’s years of service and dedication,” he said. “He didn’t have to be there, but he chose to be there so that he could help all of the kids of the community. With that said, moving into this role is another chance for me to give back to a program that has given so much to my family over the years. Corbin has one of the strongest Little League associations in the state and it’s honestly something of which our town should be very proud.”

Griffin’s vision for the future of the league emphasizes creating a positive and inclusive environment for all players.

“My vision for the league is centered around continuing to provide a positive and supportive environment where every player feels valued, no matter who they are or where they come from,” he said. “I hope to strengthen our volunteer base, improve our facilities and most of all, I hope to ensure that every kid has a memorable experience on and off the field during their time in Corbin Little League. It goes bye in a blink and most families will remember these years as some of the very best times of their lives.”
