Redhounds break game open with eight-run fifth inning 

PINEVILLE — Corbin’s never quit attitude was on display during its first round matchup of the 13th Region Baseball Tournament on Monday against Jackson County.

The Redhounds trailed 1-0 entering the fifth inning before exploding for eight runs while adding five more runs in the sixth inning while cruising to a 13-1 victory.

“We did what we had to do to survive and advance,” Corbin coach Cody Philpot said. “I’m proud of our guys for battling some adversity and pulling together as a team.”

Kade Elam picked up the win, coming in relief of starter Will Freeman after the second inning. Elam tossed three scoreless innings while striking outs four batters. Lucas Tarvin pitched a scoreless seventh inning, securing the win for Corbin.

Jaden Broughton led the Redhounds with two hits, three RBI, and two runs scored while Cam Estep collected two hits, an RBI, and scored twice. Trey Person finished with two hits, an RBI, and a run scored while Elam had a hit, three RBI, and a run scored. Clay Botner had a hit and scored once while Noah Cima and Tarvin both drove in a run and scored once apiece. Cooper McCauley scored twice in the win.
