HARLAN — Eighth grader Jordyn Smith got the job done in the pitcher’s circle, allowing only three only one run and five hits while keeping rival Harlan County’s bats off-balances during Wednesday’s 52nd District title game.
Smith struck out 10 batters while the Lady Green Dragons (19-8) struck first with four runs in the first innings and never looked back during their 7-1 victory.
Smith also came through at the plate, collecting two hits, an RBI and one run scored while Emma Farley had two hits and scored twice. Ella Lisenbee delivered a hit, an RBI and scored twice while Ava Nunez, Ally Kirby, and Addison Campbell finished with a hit, an RBI and one run scored apiece. Addison Jackson delivered a hit and scored once.
