HYDEN — Pineville’s Rachel Howard broke her own 13th Region record of 25 strikeouts in a game while leading the Lady Mountain Lions to a 4-0 nine inning win over Leslie County.
Howard first accomplished the feat back in April 27, 2021 against Knox Central.
Her 24 strikeouts rank fourth all time in state history, trailing only Elizabethtown’s Whitney Valentine’s 34 Ks in 18 innings while Henderson County’s Stacy Whitmer had 31 strikeouts in 18 innings and Grayson County’s Michelle Critchelow had 28 in 18 innings.
Jaycee Caldwell led Pineville with a hit and two RBI while Baileigh Bargo-Vaughn had two hits. Howard and Malley Smith both drove in a run apiece while Addison Slone had a hit.
