Colonels one win away from capturing Kentucky 2A state championship 

OWENSBORO — Whitley County is one win away from capturing the Kentucky 2A state championship thanks to a 6-2 win over Paducah Tilghman Saturday morning.

The Colonels (17-3) did most of their damage in the first inning, scoring four runs while adding insurance runs in the second and fourth innings.

After allowing two runs in the first inning, Kip Allen settled down, and dominated on the mound, allowing only five hits and two earned runs in the win. He struck out five batters in six innings of work. Eli Powers tossed a hitless and scoreless seventh inning while striking out a batter.

EJ Allen turned in a 3-for-3 effort at the plate while scoring three times and stealing two bases. Henry Bowling was 3-for-4 with two RBI, and a run scored while Ronald Osborne added a hit and two RBI. Dee Parker collected a hit and scored once while Jason Nunley had a hit. Ty Petrey finished with a run scored.
