Although the Knox Central Lady Panthers are having a losing season, senior Hannah Melton is still a standout player on the field.
Melton is a strong presence at the plate for the Panthers as her batting average stands at .567.
Ever since she was little, Melton watched Knox Central softball and pictured herself wearing the same uniform as the girls she was cheering on from the stands.
“Wearing the blue and gold is what I’ve always dreamed of. Being able to wear the jerseys I watched girls play in when I was younger means a lot to me,” Melton said.
Melton recently signed to play college softball at Kentucky Christian University in Grayson, Kentucky.
“I’m most excited to represent the 13th region and our area. I feel like we don’t get as much exposure or looks when it comes to the next level so I’m very grateful,” Melton said.
As she looks ahead to the next chapter, Melton is thinking about the impact she wants to leave on the softball program at Knox Central.
“I hope to leave a legacy of heart and toughness. To love the game and let how you play show that.”
