WILLIAMSBURG — Whitley County won an eight inning thriller on Friday, defeating Wayne County, 10-9.
The Lady Colonels’ (8-11) Mia Prewitt connected with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth, driving in Jayden Barton for the win.
Eight Whitley County players had multiple hits in the game with Hallie Huddleston had four hits, an RBI, and two runs scored while Morgan Huddleston finished with four hits, four RBI, and one run scored. Prewitt finished with three hits, and an RBI while Barton delivered two hits, a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored. Cambree Price finished with two hits, and three runs scored while Payton Hurst and Madilyn Rains both had two hits and a run scored apiece. Caylee Singleton finished with two hits while Adalee Johnson had a hit.
Singleton got the win, pitching all eight innings while striking out a batter.
