Jaguars’ three/game win streak comes to an end with 5-1 loss to Madison Southern

RICHMOND — Struggles at the plate played a big role in North Laurel’s 5-1 loss to Madison Southern on Thursday.

The Jaguars (8-8) entered the game riding a three-game win streak but could only deliver four hits and one run in the loss.

Cam Hinkle led North Laurel with two hits while Carter Kelley delivered a run-scoring hit. Tanner Houchens also had a hit.

“Tough loss tonight,” North Laurel’s coach DarrinMcWhorter said. “I didn’t think we hit the ball well enough to win. Their pitcher did a very good job of changing speeds and locating our pitches. We got guys on and in scoring position but couldn’t get a timely hit to drive in runs and that is baseball.”
