LONDON — North Laurel wasted little time picking up a win over Lynn Camp on Monday, defeating the Lady Wildcats, 15-0, in four innings.
The Lady Jaguars (9-2) delivered 10 hits, five of those were doubles, while taking advantage of three errors and four walks.
Emma Carl picked up the win, tossing a one-hit shutout while striking out 11 batters.
“Another good day for our girls,” North Laurel coach Chris Edwards said. “We had several good at bats today and had 10 hits. Again tonight, half of our hits were for extra bases. Katie Sams and Saige McClure with multiple hits. Emma threw a one-hitter tonight, and she is starting to round into form on the mound. We are gonna need her as the season progresses but she certainly threw well tonight.
“Good to be home in this Kentucky weather,” he added. “A little difficult to play in 50 degree weather after getting back from Florida. But we certainly aren’t the only ones dealing with the cold. We hopefully get a couple of good days of practice ahead of us and then a tough end of the week schedule but we are looking forward to it. Go Jags.”
After scoring three runs during the first two innings, North Laurel exploded for seven runs in the third inning and five more in the fourth inning to secure the win.
Saige McClure delivered two hits, two RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs scored while Katie Sams finished with two hits, two RBI, and two runs scored. Ellie Adams had a hit, three RBI, and scored once while Katie Keen finished with a hit, an RBI, and three runs scored. Tessa Monhollen, and Bella Finley both finished with a hit, an RBI, and two runs scored while Bella Sizemore tallied a hit, an RBI, and a run scored. Morgan Edwards delivered a hit while Carl drove in a run and scored once.
Lauren Parton finished with Lynn Camp’s (4-5) lone hit while Julie Moore took the loss, surrendering 10 hits and seven earned runs while striking out a batter.
