Colonels suffer first loss with 3-2 setback to Hampshire 

MILLINGTON, TENN. — Jeremy Shope’s Whitley County Colonels suffered their first loss of the season with a 3-2 setback to Hampshire.

The Colonels (6-1) were limited to only three hits in the loss while defensively, they committed two errors that led to one unearned run.

Kip Allen took the loss, allowing six hits and two earned runs while striking out a batter. Trey Walton tossed two innings, allowing a hit and no runs. He also struck out two batters.

Whitley County fell behind 2-0 in the second inning before scoring a run in the top of the third. Hampshire answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning before the Colonels scored their final run in the top of the fourth inning.

EJ Allen had a hit and an RBI while Jason Nunley finished with a hit and a run scored. Ty Petrey added a hit while Dee Parker scored a run.
