Wilson records complete game shutout during 3-0 win over McCreary Central

WILLIAMSBURG — After using three pitchers during Tuesday’s 12 inning thriller against Bell County, Whitley County coach Jeremy Shope needed sophomore pitcher Christian Wilson to turn in a stellar effort against McCreary Central, and he did just that.

Wilson limited the Raiders (6-1) to only three hits and four base runners while tossing a complete game shutout during the Colonels’ 3-0 win in Wednesday’s Kentucky 2A, Section 7 title game.

He also finished with nine strikeouts.

“Another really good pitching performance for one of our pitchers,” Shope said. “Christian was good tonight. We are in a lull at the plate. We’re not having quality at bats. We will be working to get better offensively going into spring break. We will be playing some good baseball teams both varsity and JV. Going to be a great time to get better. Excited to go spend time with our Colonel baseball family.”

Whitley County (5-0) scored a run in each of the first two innings while adding an insurance run in the fourth inning.

Henry Bowling added two hits and an RBI while Spencer Bargo went 1-for-1 with an RBI. Dee Parker delivered two hits and scored once while EJ Allen finished with a hit and a run scored. Ronald Osborne delivered a hit while Jason Nunley drove in a run, and Ty Petrey scored once.
