Mountain Lions survive Barbourville’s upset attempt, outscoring Tigers 26-15 in the fourth quarter 

PINEVILLE — It wasn’t easy, but Pineville found a way to punch its ticket into the 13th Region Tournament after surviving a scare against host Barbourville during Wednesday’s semifinal action of the 51st District Tournament.

The game was close throughout with the Mountain Lions taking a 52-48 edge into the fourth quarter before pulling off a 78-63 win.

Pineville outscored the Tigers, 26-15, in the fourth quarter while moving on to a 51st District Tournament title game matchup against Knox Central.

Sawyer Thompson led the Mountain Lions with 26 points while Jeremiah Beck had 15 points. Cam Pickett added 13 points while Ashton Moser scored 10 points.

Jasper Hubbs led Barbourville with 19 points while Riley Corey scored 18 points.
