CORBIN — Tony Pietrowski’s Corbin Redhounds recorded their second win over North Laurel in eight days, defeating the Jaguars, 66-61, on Friday.
The game was close throughout with the Redhounds (16-9) holding leads of 27-23 at halftime, and 44-39 entering the fourth quarter before securing the win.
North Laurel (15-9) led 17-16 at the end of the first quarter.
Ryder Akins led Corbin with 23 points while knocking down three 3-pointers. Connor Middleton came up huge in the second half, scoring 15 of his 17 points during the final 16 minutes. He also scored seven points in the fourth quarter. Evan Ellis added 11 points with seven of those coming in the final eight minutes.
“Great win for our team this evening,” Pietrowski said. “I’m not sure either team feels like they played their best. But both showed great effort and a desire to win.
“Proud of my kids for gutting it out and finding a way to come out on top,” he added. “Connor Middleton was a bulldog in the second half.
Made some huge shots and rebounded it.”
Cooper Elza led North Laurel with 18 points while Jordan Rawlings hit five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points. RJ Noble added 12 points while Reece Davidson finished with 11 points.
