MOUNT VERNON — Despite being down a starter, Michael Petrey’s Whitley County Lady Colonels continued to fight, before falling 49-43 to Rockcastle County on Monday.
Maddy Hopkins led the way with 21 points while Aubree Clemens and Jonna Rice added eight points apiece as the Lady Colonels fell to 16-8.
“Proud of the way our team competed tonight,” Petrey said. “We came in down a starter and I thought others stepped up. We can use tonight to learn from our mistakes and be better prepared for the district tournament. Defensively, we were really good at times tonight. We just had stretches that we couldn’t find any rhythm offensively and some of that can be contributed to Rockcastle.”
