WEEK 10 PICK’EMS: District titles are on the line for Corbin and Bell County

Well we didn’t have the week we were hoping for, going 5-3 after Williamsburg, Clay County, and Wayne County proved us wrong.

We are still doing pretty good at 72-15, getting 82.7 percent of our picks correct.

Hopefully, we can put some good numbers up this week.

Game of the Week

Pineville (7-1) at Harlan (6-2)

Whoever wins this matchup will secure a home playoff game. The Mountain Lion are coming off their first lost of the season with hopes of defeating Harlan at home.

It won’t be as easy as people think it’s gonna be.

Who wins? The Green Dragons win this battle, surviving a scare before pulling off a 27-21 win.

Estill County (6-2) at Bell County (6-2)

This is a big matchup due to whoever wins, will be the district champion. The Engineers have played really well this season but will be no match for the Bobcats, who continue to dominate behind the ground attack of Daniel Thomas and Dawson Woolum.

Who wins? The game might be close early but the Bobcats will prevail, 35-16.

Corbin (8-0) at Wayne County (6-2)

This is another game that is for a district title. The Redhounds have won 12 straight district contests under coach Tom Greer, and an even impressive stat is Corbin is now 24-1 during the regular season under Greer. Let’s go one step further, the Redhounds are winner of 24 consecutive regular season games the past three years.

Who wins? So I’m thinking you know who we are picking in this one. Redhounds win, 34-20.

North Laurel (5-3) at Henry County (7-1)

The Jaguars will be going up against a very good team. The Wildcats’ only loss was a 51-7 setback to Christian Academy Louisville.

If North Laurel is going to win Friday, the Jaguars must get off to a fast start offensively.

Who wins? We’ve got to go with the home team in this matchup. Look for Henry County to pull off a 21-14 win.

Magoffin County (3-5) at Clay County (5-3)

The Tigers continue to impress. Clay County will enter Friday’s matchup as a heavy favorite, and they should be.

Who wins: Look for Clay County to win on Senior Night, cruising to a 42-7 victory.

Harlan County (3-5) at Perry Central (5-3)

This is a huge game for the playoffs. The winner notches a playoff spot while the loser stays home.

Who wins? If Harlan County were playing at home, we’d pick the Black Bears, but they’re not, so we are taking Perry Central to come away with a 42-24 win.

Knox Central (4-4) at Lincoln County (1-7)

After allowing 178 points the past three games, the Panthers offense has scored 100 points.

It’s gonna be tough but their offense has to step things up to come away with a win against a struggling Lincoln County team.

Who wins? Look for another high scoring game as Knox Central pulls out a 58-56 win.

South Laurel (0-8) at Whitley County (1-7)

The winner clinches a playoff spot, so look for Whitley County and South Laurel to give it their all Friday.

Who wins? Whitley will roll in this matchup, 49-14.

Williamsburg (5-2) at Lynn Camp 2-5)

The Yellow Jackets are coming off a huge win over Pineville while Lynn Camp is searching to keep back on track.

Who wins? The Yellow Jackets will score early and often, and come away with a 42-0 win.

Caverna (2-6) at Jackson County (0-8)

We are all pulling for the Generals to come away with their first win since defeating Jenkins three years ago.

Jackson County is looking to snap a 12-game losing skid.

Who wins? Look for Caverna to pull out a 22-13 win.
