LONDON — North Laurel started fast and then regained its momentum in the fourth set to secure a 3-1 road victory over Barbourville in volleyball action on Friday.
The Lady Jaguars controlled the opening two sets, taking the first 25-20 before following with a 25-16 victory to build a 2-0 advantage.
Barbourville refused to go away.
North Laurel struggled with unforced errors in the third set, and despite battling back to make things close, the Lady Jaguars fell 28-26 as Barbourville extended the match.
North Laurel again got off to a slower start in the fourth before finding its rhythm. The Lady Jaguars pulled away for a 25-17 victory to close out the match.
“The girls came out hot in the first two sets, then it was like they died and we were making a bunch of unforced errors,” North Laurel coach Angela Singleton said. “They battled back and got it close again but couldn’t pull out the third set. In set four, it was a slower start again, but they finally found the right gear and started heating up again.
“I told the girls I was proud of their fight, but we have got to get hot and stay hot through all the sets,” she added. “We’ve got to limit our mistakes and clean up a few aspects of our game to prepare for the next game. Go Jags.”
