South Laurel kept its hopes of repeating as 13th Region champions alive after handing Harlan County an 11-0 loss during semifinal play of Monday’s 13th Region Girls Soccer Tournament.
Ella Rison scored three goals during the win while Belle Dotson added three goals, too. Josie Gill finished with two goals along with Gracie Hoskins while Linnea Rameil added one goal.
Dotson scored the Lady Cardinals’ (11-7) first goal two minutes into the contest and her team never looked back.
Goals by Gill, Rison, and Hoskins increased South Laurel’s advantage to 4-0 10 minutes into the match while Dotson, Hoskins, Gill, and Rameil each scored a goal apiece during the next 15 minutes to push the Lady Cardinals’ lead to 8-0.
Rison followed with two goals while Dotson added another to Wrapup the win with five minutes remaining in the first half.
The loss dropped the Lady Black Bears’ record to 6-11 while South Laurel advanced to Wednesday’s title game at 8 p.m.
