5-for-5: Parman Headlines Offensive Explosion

SOMERSET — When Whitley County needed a spark, Cooper Parman delivered a flawless one.

Parman turned in a perfect performance at the plate, going 5-for-5 with three RBI, leading the Colonels to a 13-5 win over Henry Clay on Saturday.

The freshman was locked in from the start, setting the tone for an offense that never let up.

Whitley County (6-1) finished with 13 runs on 14 hits, scoring in six of seven innings and pulling away late after a competitive opening stretch.

After trailing early, the Colonels responded in a big way, using a three-run fifth inning to grab control before putting the game away with four runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh.

Parman wasn’t alone in the offensive dominance.

Ethan Allen added two hits and two RBI while Kip Allen drove in two runs and reached base multiple times. Henry Bowling had two hits and scored twice.

Ty Petrey also turned in a multi-hit effort while Luke Hillard and Dee Parker delivered run-scoring hits as Whitley County’s lineup produced up and down the order.

On the mound, the Colonels pieced together a strong outing.

Hillard started and worked three innings while Ethan Allen provided key middle relief, and Parman closed the door late

Together, the trio limited Henry Clay to five runs on five hits while striking out nine.
