No doubt about it: Colonels cruise to Kentucky 2A, Section 7 championship

PINEVILLE — Jeremy Shope’s Whitley County Colonels wasted little time in capturing the Kentucky 2A, Section 7 championship thanks to a 15-0 win over Harlan County in three innings.

The No. 6 ranked Colonels (5-0) did all of their damage in the first inning, scoring 15 runs en route to the 15-run victory.

“So proud of our guys for coming out with a business type approach,” Whitley County coach Jeremy Shope said. “We had six hits in the first inning to bust the game open. We were able to hit everyone twice in the first inning. We were able to get some guys in during the second inning. Cooper and Christian knocked the bat out of their hands. We’re excited about going to Owensboro again for the 2A State Tournament. Go Colonels.”

Tyler Petrey led the way with two hits (both doubles), four RBI, and two runs scored while Henry Bowling delivered two hits, three RBI, and two runs scored. Cooper Parman, Dee Parker, and Spencer Bargo each finished with a hit, and two RBI in the win.

Parman picked up the win, tossing two innings while allowing no runs or hits while striking out four batters. Christian Wilson pitched an inning of relief, allowing a hit while striking out three batters.

Aiden Lewis finished with the Black Bears’ (3-2) lone hit.
