South Laurel moves on with 80-17 victory over Williamsburg 

CORBIN — No. 10 South Laurel punched its ticket into next week’s 13th Region Tournament with an easy, 80-17, win over Williamsburg.

The win improved Tod Windlan’s squad improves to 23-6 while the Lady Yellow Jackets finish their campaign season with a 10-17 mark.

“Really proud of our program and community as they showed up tonight in support,” Windlans said. “Lady Cards got off to a fast start and never looked back. Starters did what we wanted and pulled them after four and a half minutes and our bench played very well.

“Kenzie Fannin (16), Emma Adams (15), Hallianna Massey (11), Zoey Church (10) all came off the bench to lead us in scoring. Play Thursday at 7 p.m. for 50th District championship. Go Cards.”

South Laurel put the game out of reach in the first quarter, outscoring Williamsburg 34-3.

Eighth grader McKenzie Fannin scored 10 points in the opening quarter while Maci Messer had nine points, and Callie Jones added seven points.

The Lady Cardinals led 55-9 at halftime, and 63-13 entering the fourth quarter. 

Fannin led South Laurel with 16 points while Emma Adams added 15 points. Hallianna Massey scored 11 points while Zoey Church finished with 10 points.

Bella Jeffries led the Lady Yellow Jackets with six points.
