No. 8 North Laurel holds off Taylor County

LONDON — No. 8 North Laurel jumped on visiting Taylor County early, and held off a late rally by the Cardinals on Tuesday while pulling off a 78-70 win.

The Jaguars (22-4) led 20-11 after the first quarter, and 43-24 at halftime before taking a 60-43 edge into the fourth quarter.

“We got off to a great start tonight and fortunately built a lead,” North Laurel coach Nate Valentine said. “I thought we got complacent and stopped doing the things that got us the lead. I’m happy with the win but we definitely have things we need to continue to improve on. We have a challenging week ahead and I’m excited to see how we respond to it.”

Reece Davidson led the Jaguars with 28 points while Corey Cunagin added 20 points. Jordan Rawlings finished with 12 points while Kaiden Allen hit three 3-pointers and finished with nine points.
