CORBIN — Lynn Camp was able to get some revenge from an early season loss to Williamsburg by defeating the Yellow Jackets, 74-57, at home Monday.
Led by Eison Mayo’s 19-point scoring effort, the Wildcats improved to 7-17 while Williamsburg falls to 1-23. Landen Rose added 17 points while Conner Mabe scored 14 points, and Caleb Woods added 13 points.
Layne Jeffries led Williamsburg with 15 points while Trenton Cornett finished with 13 points
“Proud of our kids, they were ready for this one, it’s a big rivalry and none of our kids had ever beat Williamsburg in any sport in high school,” Lynn Camp coach Marcus McKeehan said. “First basketball win against them since February, 2022. We have really focused in on sharing the basketball and continuing playing hard. We’ve played good our last couple of ballgames including the Pineville game.
“We’ve told them to keep playing hard and together,” he added. “Our group has improved and they come to work everyday. We had balanced scoring tonight and again went deep into our bench even in the first half. We will get back to work and try to finish strong and get ready for the postseason.”
