PINEVILLE — South Laurel jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 62-35 victory over Bell County on Saturday.
The Lady Cardinals set the tone with a strong first half and built a comfortable cushion by the break. South Laurel’s balanced scoring attack proved to be too much for Bell County to overcome as the Lady Cards improved to 12-5 on the season. Bell County fell to 13-3 with the loss.
Skeeter Mabe led South Laurel with 13 points, while Maci Messer also scored 13. Callie Jones added 10 points to give the Lady Cardinals three players in double figures.
Nevaeh Allen led Bell County with a game-high 14 points, and Kairi Lamb finished with 10 for the Lady Cats.
“We got off to a nice start and played a really good first half,” he said. “Skeeter Mabe had 10, Ryleigh Bretz seven and Aubrey Bundy had six at half.
“Our focus was not great the last 10 minutes of the game and that is something we have to fix,” Windlan added. “For the game Mabe had 13, Messer with 13 and Jones finished with 10. We are back in action Tuesday versus Corbin in a big 50th District game. Proud of our kids. Go Cards.”
