ORLANDO — Whitley County closed out play at the KSA Holiday Tournament with a strong 70–52 win over Quaker Valley, Pa., finishing the event with a 2–1 record and placing second overall. The Colonels improved to 10–3 on the season with the victory.
Coming off a narrow loss to the bracket champion the day before, Whitley County responded with a stellar defensive effort and balanced scoring.
Riley Fuson and Tootie Mahan led the way with 20 points apiece. Mahan also reached a major milestone in the win, scoring his 1,000th career point. Levi Jackson added nine points, while Dee Parker chipped in seven.
Whitley County coach Eric Swords was pleased with how his team bounced back to close the tournament.
“Proud of our guys today,” Whitley County coach Eric Swords said. “We put out a great defensive effort today after a tough close loss to the bracket champion yesterday. Tootie and Riley both had really good games offensively, we also continued to have good balance overall. Congrats to Tootie Mahan who broke the 1,000 career point mark today.”
