PINEVILLE — Pineville saved its best performance for last at the Chain Rock Classic.

In the final game of the Chain Rock event, the Mountain Lions scored early and often, turning a competitive opening quarter en route to an 88-40 win over Jackson City.

Pineville held a 19-10 advantage at the end of the first quarter, but the game quickly shifted in the second. Zachery Preston and Noah Sloan each knocked down a pair of three-pointers during a dominant stretch that saw the Mountain Lions pour in 31 points in the period. The offensive surge helped Pineville build a commanding 50-25 lead by halftime.

From there, Pineville was in complete control, continuing to apply pressure on both ends of the floor and steadily extending the margin throughout the second half.

Noah Sloan led all scorers with 18 points, pacing a balanced Pineville attack. Kenton Brock followed with 15 points, while Preston added 12 and Brady Hatmaker chipped in 11 as four Mountain Lions finished in double figures.

The convincing win caps a strong showing at the Chain Rock Classic and improves Pineville’s record to 6-5 on the season.
