Generals Get Revenge, Claim Third Place at CFI

CORBIN — Jackson County earned a measure of revenge on Tuesday, defeating Barbourville 47–39 to improve to 8–4 on the season and claim the third-place trophy at the Cumberland Falls Invitational.

The win came just weeks after a close loss to Barbourville on the Generals’ home floor, and Jackson County made sure this time the result would be different.

Wyatt Gray led the Generals with 14 points, while Ashton Clemons added 11. Tansen Truett scored seven points, Braxton Coyle and Joona Holm chipped in five apiece, Brennon Combs finished with three, and Tyler Sandlin added two.

Gray and Truett were both named to the All-Tournament Team for their performances throughout the event.

Jackson County coach Parker Stewart said the win was a testament to his team’s toughness and growth.

“I’m very proud of our boys tonight,” Jackson County coach Parker Stewart said. “We felt like we let one slip away versus Barbourville at home a couple weeks ago and it was to see us execute down the stretch and be able to finish the game out tonight. Barbourville is a physical, well coached team, and we know it’s never going to be an easy game versus them. We have a group of guys that are tough, together, and unselfish and I love coaching them.”
