Lady Generals Down Monterey, Win Second Straight

Jackson County picked up its second straight victory Friday, defeating Monterey, Tennessee 49-41 to improve to 2-4 on the season.

Baylee Berry once again led the way for the Lady Generals, finishing with a team-high 16 points and six rebounds. Berry’s scoring presence helped Jackson County maintain control throughout the game and close out the win down the stretch.

Seventh grader Sophia Martinez continued her strong play, reaching double figures with 13 points while going 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Martinez also dished out four assists, providing a steady presence at the point guard spot.

Another seventh grader, Adi Brockman, added nine points by knocking down three 3-point field goals. Rylee Bowman contributed four points and six rebounds, while Tilly Truett added two points and a team-high nine rebounds to help control the boards.

Kara Harris finished with two points, and Scarlett Peel added one as the Lady Generals showed balance across the lineup.

With the win, Jackson County advances to the championship game of its bracket, scheduled for Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
