Burnett’s 26, Thomas’ Hot Shooting Fuel Bell County Rout

PINEVILLE — Bell County remained unbeaten Tuesday with an 82–42 victory over Harlan, moving to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in 52nd District play. The Green Dragons fell to 0-3 and 0-1 in district action.

The Bobcats led 20-11 after the first quarter and broke the game open in the second period, taking a 46-28 lead into halftime. Bell County continued to control the pace and pressure the ball, extending its advantage to 65-41 by the end of the third.

Blake Burnett paced the Bobcats with 26 points, including three 3-pointers. Jaxon Thomas added 18 points and knocked down all four of his 3-pointers during a red-hot second quarter. Ethan Buell also delivered a strong performance with 20 points.

Harlan was led by Izack Saylor with 13 points, while Legend Mimes finished with 12.

Bell County coach Brad Sizemore was pleased with the way his team settled in after a slow opening stretch.

“We got off to a little bit of a slow start in the first quarter but we regroup and picked up our pressure full court and had a really good third quarter,” he said. “I saw a lot of good things out of several of our kids tonight. They really competed on both ends of the floor and played physical. It’s always good to get the first district win of the year, we will have to be ready to go again on Friday night against Middlesboro.”
