Williamsburg Picks Up First Win with 35–26 Victory Over Lee County

The Williamsburg Lady Yellow Jackets bounced back in a big way Thursday night, rallying from a halftime deficit to earn a 35–26 win over Lee County.

Lee County controlled the early pace, leading 8–3 after the first quarter and 14–10 at halftime. But Williamsburg responded with a dominant third quarter, outscoring the Lady Kats 17–3 to take a 27–17 lead into the final period. From there, the Lady Yellow Jackets closed the door to secure their first win of the season, improving to 1–1.

Abby Moses delivered a strong performance with a team-high 16 points, while Braylee Evans added 12 points.

Coach Melissia Douglas said she was proud of the way her team responded following Tuesday’s loss.

“We learned from Tuesday’s loss and responded a little later than I was comfortable with but tonight our focus was effort, heart, and attitude,” Williamsburg coach Melissia Douglas said. “The third quarter showed what happens when our starters connect, but the entire team contributed to this win. I’m truly pleased with how we played together. Abby Moses led us with 16, and Braylee Evans added 12, both set the tone, but everyone played a part.”
