BARBOURVILLE — Knox Central junior McKenzie Hensley might be one of the most underrated players in the 13th Region. After being held scoreless in the first quarter, Hensley erupted for a game-high 24 points — including 10 in the final eight minutes — to rally the Lady Panthers to a 67-62 win over a much-improved Harlan County squad.
Knox Central trailed 44-41 entering the fourth quarter, but outscored the Lady Black Bears 26-18 down the stretch to secure the victory.
Shelbie Mills and Kaylynn Smith provided steady support, scoring 17 points apiece for the Lady Panthers.
Harlan County was led by Jaycee Simpson, who knocked down three 3-pointers and finished with 14 points. Reagan Clem added 13 points while Kyler Runions (11), Jaylee Cochran (10) and Taylynn Napier (nine) also contributed for the Lady Black Bears.
