WILLIAMSBURG — Corbin and Whitley County will meet for a fourth time on Tuesday as both teams advanced to the 50th District title game.
The Lady Redhounds recorded a 3-0 win over South Laurel Monday, eliminating the Lady Cardinals with a 25-23, 25-16, and 25-15 victory.
Corbin eighth grader Harper Newcomb continued her impressive season by recording her 1,000th assist in only 36 games.
The Lady Redhounds improved to 24-12 with the win while the Lady Cardinals finished their season with a 13-19 mark.
“I’m proud of our team for pushing through a slow start and finding a way to get the job done,” Corbin coach Krystal Jones said. “Making it to the regional tournament is always special, and tonight was even more memorable with eighth grader Harper Newcomb recording her 1,000th assist. South competed hard and made us work for every point. It’s a quick turnaround to tomorrow as we prepare for the district championship. It’s a great day to be a Redhound.”
