Cardinals get back on track with 8-0 win over Knox Central

BARBOURVILLE —South Laurel earned a convincing 8-0 victory over Knox Central on Monday, improving its record to 6-7-2.

The Cardinals had eight different players find the back of the net in the win. Blake Robinson, Jase Jones, Braydon Woods, Luke Sauer, Zayden Chumbley, Gustavo Victoria, Angel Lopez, and Tristan Adams each scored a goal.

After a tough stretch of matches, South Laurel coach Brooks Cawood said he was pleased with how his team handled the opportunity to get healthy while also giving younger players more experience.

“We had some guys that needed to heal up from a tough week of matches,” he said. “That gave our guys that we have been developing a great chance to get minutes and varsity time. We played very unselfish tonight, stuck to our game plan and executed it. We’re hoping to have everyone resting and healing as we prepare for district play.”
