BARBOURVILLE — Knox Central celebrated Senior Night in style, sweeping Pineville in straight sets, 25-21, 25-11, 25-22.
The Lady Panthers honored seniors Emma McDonald (No. 2) and Amelia Lord (No. 6) before the match, then delivered a strong performance to move to 10-10 overall and remain perfect in district play at 5-0. Pineville dropped to 10-12 and 1-4 in district action.
The first set was tightly contested, with the teams trading points and finding themselves tied several times, including at 19-all. Knox Central responded with a 6-2 run to close out the set, 25-21.
The Lady Panthers controlled the second set from start to finish, building leads of 10-4, 16-8, and 22-10 before cruising to a 25-11 win.
Pineville threatened in the third, jumping out to a 7-4 lead and later holding a 20-16 advantage. Knox Central clawed back to tie it at 20 before finishing on a 5-2 run to seal the sweep, 25-22.
