WILLIAMSBURG — Whitley County kept its strong season rolling with a straight-set victory over Harlan County on Tuesday, winning 25-14, 25-19, 25-20.
The Lady Colonels improved to 15-3 with the win, while the Lady Black Bears fell to 8-6.
Coach David Halcomb praised his team’s effort and execution, while also noting the importance of the night’s cause.
“Another good win for us in straight sets. I’m always impressed with Harlan County and they came in ready to play,” Halcomb said. “I’m very pleased with our serving tonight and we are starting to execute better offensively. We struggled a bit in the second set, but went on a big run to close it out. Our net play is getting better too.
“I appreciate all our fans coming out as we hosted our Dig Pink breast cancer awareness match,” he added. “This is a fun group to get to coach and I only want the very best for them. We have a ways to go, buy they keep working hard and we are getting there.”
