Jaguars prove skeptics wrong, stun Madison Central with 9-7 road win

RICHMOND — North Laurel stared down a 7-3 deficit entering the fourth quarter but a late touchdown run by Cooper Robinson combined with a missed last-second field goal by Madison Central, allowed the Jaguars to pull off a 9-7 win over the Indians.

The win improved the Jaguars to 2-1 while Madison Central falls to 2-2.

“I am so proud of this team,” North Laurel coach Steven Nelson said. “We went down in the fourth and went straight down the field and scored when we had to. This team has no quit in them and keeps improving every single week.

“Nobody gave us a chance and these boys went out and proved them wrong,” he added. “I’m very proud to be their coach and they make my job so enjoyable. I believe this team can be very special, and they keep their heads down and keep working every day. Proud of our entire team, Go Jags.”
