Yellow Jackets cruise on the road, hands Leslie County, 36-6, loss

HYDEN — Williamsburg was clicking on all cylinders during Friday’s 36-6 road win over Leslie County.

Jerry Herron’s squad scored the game’s first 36 points before allowing a touchdown late in the contest.

Reece Hatcher threw for two touchdowns in the win, connecting with Peyton Hamilton (14-yarder), and Lane Jeffries (25-yarder).

Eli Meadors scored on a 25-yard touchdown run, and a 35-yard score while also adding a two-point conversion. Hatcher and Jeffries also added own two-point conversion apiece.

Defensively, Gary Tye had a 35-yard interception return for a score.

“We executed the game plan on both sides of the ball,” Herron said. “We were able to move the ball on their zone, and we attacked the football on defense. Our players played extremely hard and we had a lot of confidence.

“We were able to jump out on them early,” he added. “That was key and our special teams covered kicks well tonight, too. If we continue to improve we will have a chance to be competitive in our district.”

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action Friday on the road against Paris.
