Corbin girls’ golf team captures Kentucky 2A, Section 7 championship

PINEVILLE — Austin Reynolds’ Corbin girls’ golf team took home top honors in the Kentucky 2A, Section 7 Tournament after turning in an impressive 497 on Thursday.

Corbin was led by Makena Myatt’s 68, who won the individual tile and shot a personal best which is also a Corbin High School record, while Kayln Watkins (81), Brooke Kfoury (107)  Paige Kfoury (120), and Kylie Cuel (121) followed.

“Great team effort today,” Reynolds said. “We worked the ball around the course exceptionally well. Makena shot a PB today and was lights out really could not have asked more out of her. Kalyn played extremely well, she did exactly what we needed her to do in order to win, and her game is growing and getting better and better every single day. Brooke Kfoury played exceptionally well! She showed a ton of improvement from the last couple times and really shined off tee box and working her way in on the approach shots. Paige did really well! She worked the ball well around the course, and so did Kylie, Kylie played great off the tee box which helped her score well.

“I’m so so so proud of our girls and how much they’ve grown, they played the to their advantages I think that’s what separated us today, but I’m really just so proud of them and can’t express it enough,” he added. “They have worked so hard to be there today and compete and pull through with the tournament win.”
