LONDON — South Laurel faced off against a much-improved Clay County squad, and managed to even its record at 1-1 thank to a 3-1 victory over the Lady Tigers.
South Laurel won the first set, 25-14, before rolling to a 25-14 win in the second set. Clay County won the third set, 25-18, before the Lady Cardinals cruised to a 25-13 win in the third set.
“We came out strong and played three really solid sets tonight,” South Laurel coach Shelley Nunley said. “We lost focus and let things get a little messy in the third, but we were able to settle back down in the fourth, working hard to be more aggressive on the ball both defensively and offensively so that we could close out the match with our first official win of the season.”
