MANCHESTER — Defending 13th Region champion Oneida Baptist Mountaineers started the season off with a win, defeating Berea, 7-1.
Henrique Gabardo led the way with three goals while Hero Khajohnsupawatchara added two goals. Jonathan Fan and Amadeus Martin added one goal apiece.
“Proud of the boys for the way we came out in our season opener,” Oneida Baptist coach Hunter House said. “We were disappointed to gift them a goal in final few minutes of the game. We really wanted the shut out. Overall, glad with the win but the boys know we have a lot of work to do to get to where we wanna be. We head into the toughest part of our schedule in the beginning of September so we will see what we are made of then. Back to the training ground then match day two versus Perry on Thursday.”
