LEXINGTON — It was a long day Kentucky Proud Park for 13th Region champion Corbin.
The Redhounds (20-18) fell behind 3-0 after two innings of play before cutting their deficit to 3-2 in the fourth inning, but couldn’t get over the hump as Pleasure Ridge Park scored seven runs during the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to eliminate Corbin with a 10-3 win.
Cody Philpot’s squad had high hopes of advancing to quarterfinal action of the KHSAA State Baseball Tournament but couldn’t get on track against the defending state champion Panthers (27-6).
Pleasure Ridge Park put pressure on Corbin’s defense the entire game, stealing seven bases while producing nine hits and five sacrifices. The Panthers also scored in all but one inning.
Bellarmine signee Brayden Bruner delivered at the plate with a 2-for-3 effort while driving in two runs and scoring once.
Pitcher Grayson Roll improved to 7-1, limiting the Redhounds to six hits and three earned runs while striking out nine batters.
13th Region Tournament MVP Lucas Tarvin got the start on the mound for Corbin, but lasted only 2.1 innings, allowing three hits and three earned runs. Clay Botner tossed 2.2 innings, surrendering six hits and four earned runs while Ethan Abner pitched a scoreless and hitless inning.
Tarvin led the Redhounds at the plate with a 2-for-3 effort and two RBI while Botner had a hit and an RBI. Kade Elam turned in a one-hit, and one-run effort while Noah Cima had a hit and scored twice. Jaden Broughton also had a hit.
