WILLIAMSBURG — Jeremy Shope’s Whitley County Colonels clinched the 50th District’s top seed with a 15-0 win over Williamsburg on Wednesday.
The win improved the Colonels to 19-5 overall and 5-1 against district competition while the Yellow Jackets fell to 1-16 overall and 0-6 against district opponents. The 15-run victory was Whitley County’s 18th in a row over Williamsburg.
Ty Petrey led the Colonels with two hits, two RBI, and two runs scored while Jason Nunley also had a hit and two RBI. Seven Whitley County players finished the game with at least one hit and an RBI.
Freshman Clint Partin recorded the win for the Colonels, tossing three innings while allowing one hit and striking out six batters.
