CORBIN — Cody Philpot’s Corbin Redhounds (8-6) got on back track Friday in a big way, scoring at least a run in all six innings while defeating Russell County, 12-2.
Seven Redhound players had at least two hits apiece with senior Kade Elam leading the way with a 4-for-4 effort while driving in three runs, and scoring once.
“I was happy with our response tonight,” Philpot said. “We hit all up and down the lineup tonight and Abner and Broughton did a good job on the mound for us.”
Lucas Tarvin continued his hot play at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, and a run scored while Cam Estep delivered two hits and two RBI while scoring three times. Cooper McCauley and Noah Cima both finished with two hits, an RBI, and two runs scored apiece while Clay Botner had two hits and two RBI. Jaden Broughton had two hits and scored one run while Trey Person connected with a hit, and scored once. Ethan Abner had a hit while Dallas Merida scored once.
Abner got the win, lasting three innings while allowing two hits and two earned runs. He finished with two strikeouts. Jaden Broughton pitched three shutout innings, allowing only one hit. He finished with two Ks.
