SOMERSET — Cold weather, and a sun delay couldn’t keep Whitley County pitcher Christian Wilson from turning in one of his best efforts on the mound Tuesday.
Wilson tossed 5.1 innings of one-hit, and one-run ball while striking out seven batters to help lead the Colonels to an 8-1 victory over Southwestern.
“Heck of an outing by Christian Wilson. He had thrown five no hit innings until a sun delay,” Whitley County coach Jeremy Shope said. “He got one out after the sun delay before giving up the no-hitter. Proud of how he is progressing. Had several guys have really good at bats. I’m excited about this team if we keep working. We’ve got several games this week.”
Whitley County (8-1) pounded out 12 hits as Caden Mountjoy had two hits and two RBI in the win. Landen Rose finished with two hits and two runs scored while Henry Bowling had two hits, an RBI, and two runs scored. Dee Parker also delivered two hits in the win. Kaden Powers finished with a hit, an RBI, and a run scored while Jason Nunley had a hit and an RBI. EJ Allen finished with a hit, an RBI, and a run scored while Ronald Osborne had a hit and scored once.
