WHITESBURG — North Laurel placed third overall in the 10th Region Girls’ Archery Tournament.
The Lady Jaguars turned in a score of 1,919 while accumulating 91 10-counts.
Letcher Central took home first place honors with 1,935 points and 86 10-counts. Wolfe County finished second with 1,924 points and 82 10-counts.
Corbin also participated in the event, placing four with 1,813 points along with 60 10-counts.
“Our girls team has fought hard all year and finished third in the KHSAA Regional 10 tournament this past weekend,” North Laurel coach Jason Ivey said. “These ladies are tight nit group. They support each other with dignity and class that is second to none. It’s truly been an honor being their coach.
“We have one senior on the girls team, Ashlyn Osborne,” he added. “We are going to miss her next year. She is as good at coaching other archers as she is a shooting herself. “Unfortunately, the girls team will not advance to state as a team because of their third place finish,” Ivey continued. “Addison and Sarah will advance as individuals because of their second and third place overall finishes. Both have the potential and drive to win at the state level.”
North Laurel’s Addison Metcalf finished second overall with a score of 294 points and 24 10-counts. Sarah Martin finished third with 288 points and 21 10-counts while Annabelle Green finished 10th overall with 278 points and 14 10-counts.
Chloe Mills (270, 19th), Caylee Bowman (266, 23rd), Brindalyn Fawbush (263, 25th), Kaley Martin (260, 31st), Anabel Farmer (259, 34th), Ashlyn Osborne (258, 35th), Leilani Goldsbury (257, 37th), Natalie Collett (254, 41st), Madison Burton (254, 42nd) also turned in solid results for the Lady Jaguars.
Chloe Trivette was Corbin’s top finisher. She placed 17th with a score of 271. Trivette was followed by teammates Kelsi Earles (268, 22nd), Katie Ridener (264, 24th), Katelyn Myers (258, 36th), Payton Krossber (255, 40th), Alley Coe (252, 43rd), Zoey Lee (245, 48th), and Danica Stephens (232, 52nd).
