Mountain Lions moving on to region semis for the first time since 2012

CORBIN — The Pineville Mountain Lions notched their spot into Saturday’s 13th Region Boys’ Tournament semifinal by defeating Clay County, 73-68.
The Mountain Lions used a 10-0 run to close out the first half and held never looked back. The win marks Pineville’s first appearance in the 13th Region Tournament’s Final Four since 2012. It’s also their sixth region tournament win program history.
“The second quarter turned the tide for us,” Pineville coach Brad Levy said. “There were shaky times, but the kids responded well in the end.”
Jeremiah Beck turned in a stellar effort, scoring 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the floor while pulling down six rebounds. Kaiden Robbins hit clutch 3-pointers after clutch 3-pointers, going 6-of-8 from the floor, and 4-of-6 from 3-point range. He finished with 17 points. Ashton Moser scored 16 points, to tallying five boards, two steals and one block. Sawyer Thompson had eight points, 10 assists and two steals while Zander Garrison scored seven points. Cameron Puckett added three points.
The Mountain Lions led 35-27 at halftime, and 54-47 entering the fourth quarter.
“We are going to enjoy this like crazy tonight, and get back to work tomorrow,” Levy said.
Jerrod Roark led Clay County with 19 points while Aiden Wagers finished with 16 points and nine rebounds. Adon Grubb collected 13 points and 10 rebounds.
