Lady Colonels lose last-second heartbreaker to South Doyle 

SEVIERVILLE, TENN. — Whitley County dropped its second game in a row on Saturday, losing consecutive games for the first time this season after dropping a 45-43 heartbreaker to South Doyle.

The Lady Colonels (7-3) held a 43-42 lead with seconds remaining before South Doyle connected with a shot and was also fouled on the play.

South Doyle converted the free throw, pushing its lead to 45-43 as Whitley County attempted to win or tie the game, but failed to get a shot off as time expired.

Maddy Hopkins led the way with 13 points while Khylea Ray Collier hit four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points. Jonna Rice added 10 points.

The Lady Colonels will be back in action Monday in their final contest of the 2024 Winterfest Shootout.

Whitley County started the season with a 6-0 mark, but has now dropped three of its last four games.
