HAZARD — James Prewitt’s Lynn Camp Lady Wildcats weren’t able to overcome a second straight slow start on Friday.
The Lady Wildcats (4-4) fell behind, 34-4, in the first quarter to Perry Central, and never recovered, losing, 75-28.
Lauren Partin led Lynn Camp with 21 points while Cambree Prewitt followed with three points.
“It was a tough day for us,” Prewitt said. “Our struggles from early in the day continued into the evening game. Perry County Central has a really nice team. They shot the ball very well, especially early in the game. We just didn’t have an answer.
“We gained some valuable experience today,” he added. “We played a team to the wire, trailed most of the game, and got the win. Then we played a really good team, but we learned some things about ourselves. We are going to get better, we are going to keep battling, and we are going to strive to be playing our best basketball when district and tournament time rolls around.”
