CORBIN — Corbin capped off its own Christmas Bash Invitational by posting a 3-0 mark after defeating both Harlan and Wayne County on Saturday.
Led by Kylie Clem’s 29-point scoring effort, Corbin defeated Wayne County, 58-53, and handed Harlan a 73-61 loss earlier Saturday.
“I am really proud of our basketball team today and the grit that they showed against Wayne County,” Corbin coach Isaac Wilson said. “Give credit to Wayne County, in the first half. They really controlled the basketball game and caused us a lot of problems both on the defensive end and the offensive end. I thought we were very mature and regrouped at halftime and was able to put together a second half to earn us the victory today.
“I could not be more proud of the way that we responded in the face of adversity and I believe it is games like today that really shows what kind of team we can become this season,” he added. “We will enjoy a few days for Christmas and get back at it on the 27th and 28th at Somerset.”
Saturday Game One
Corbin 73, Harlan 61
Isaac Wilson’s Corbin Lady Redhounds improved to 2-0 in the Lady Redhound Christmas Bash thanks to a 73-61 win over Harlan on Saturday.
Kylie Clem led Corbin with 23 points while Addy Wilson (12 points), Raegan Walker (11 points), and Lydia King (nine points) followed.
Aymanni Wynn led Harlan with a game-high 25 points while Cheyanne Rhymer added 18 points.
“Hats off to Harlan today they have a nice basketball team and they play very physical,” Wilson said. “I thought that they were able to rattle us a little bit with their physical play which in return kind of knocked us off a good offensive flow all night.
“We continued to battle and found ways to make plays to secure the victory, and I am proud of my basketball team for that,” he added. “We have a quick turnaround to play a solid Wayne County team from the 12th Region and I’m excited to see how we respond with that challenge.”
