Reece Davidson scores game-high 27 points during Jaguars’ 63-38 win over Lexington Catholic 

LONDON — North Laurel shot a red-hot 58.7 percent from the floor, hitting 24-of-41 shot attempts while limiting Lexington Catholic to 13-of-44 (29.5 percent) shooting to pick up a 63-38 win over the Knights.

Nate Valentine’s team hit five 3-pointers while forcing 16 turnovers in the win.

“I’m proud of our guys for getting to 1-0 tonight,” Valentine said. “We did a good job on the defensive end challenging shots. Our guards did a great job against their press. We moved the ball and took really good shots. I was really proud of our effort and energy in the home opener.”

The Jaguars built a 16-7 lead heading into the second quarter before outscoring Lexington Catholic, 17-11, while holding a 33-18 edge at halftime before leading 48-28 entering the fourth quarter.

Reese Davidson lived up to his preseason hype, scoring a game-high 27 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the floor. He also had six rebounds and two assists.

Jordan Rawlings added 12 points while hitting 4-of-8 3-point attempts while Kole Jervis had seven points, three rebounds and two assists. Cooper Elza led the Jaguars with four assists.

North Laurel will be back in action Friday at home against Jeffersontown. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
