HARLAN — David Halcomb’s Whitley County Lady Colonels are one win away from capturing their third consecutive region championship.
The Lady Colonels (28-10) ran their regional tournament win streak to eight games after defeating Bell County, 3-0, during Monday’s 13th Region Volleyball Tournament semifinal action.
Whitley County will face rival Corbin in the championship game Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The two team have faced each other four times this season with Corbin winning two of three matches during regular season play before handing the Lady Colonels a 3-0 loss in last week’s 50th District title game.
Tuesday’s meeting will mark the fifth consecutive season the two teams will battle things out in the 13th Region title game — Corbin has won twice, and Whitley County has won twice.
The Lady Colonels wasted little time eliminating Bell County, winning 25-15 in the first set before rolling to a 25-8 victory in the second set. Whitley County won the third set, 25-19.
